Meijer Inc. is opening a new supercenter in Glen Carbon/Edwardsville, IL, serving the St. Louis Metro area. We seek a Grocery Team Leader to plan, direct and supervise store operations, mentor staff, and drive sales from day one in a brand-new location.

The role emphasizes staffing, development, and maintaining Meijer standards, with strong focus on customer service, safety, and consistent attendance in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or its equivalent is required.
• 2–3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in meat, bakery, produce and deli; customer service and product flow experience helpful.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly to team members.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict by addressing root causes.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information for informed decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to teach suggestive selling.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor team members across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct and supervise team members in day-to-day store operations across departments.
• Mentor and coach team members; implement strategies to improve customer service and drive sales.
• Maintain store appearance with focus on prime shopping hours, product presentation and standards.
• Staffing, selection and hiring to meet needs; promote succession planning and development.
• Apply disciplinary actions and make recommendations concerning discharge.
• Ensure P&L responsibilities, sales targets and shrink control for the department.
• Spending majority of time in-store communicating with customers and team members to ensure exceptional service.
