Job summary

Smart & Final in Oakland is hiring a Service Clerk to assist customers, stock shelves, and maintain carts at 1243 42nd Avenue. The role includes helping customers with purchases, loading items into vehicles, checking prices, and keeping areas clean.

The ideal candidate speaks English, can lift up to 60 pounds, and works well in a fast-paced grocery environment. Basic PC/Outlook skills and a customer-first mindset are a plus.

Qualifications

• Read and write English and interact with the public and coworkers.
• Read and comprehend simple instructions, product pricing codes, shelf tags.
• Write simple correspondence.
• Present information clearly in one-on-one or small group settings.
• Follow detailed but uncomplicated written or oral instructions.
• Regularly lift and move up to 25 pounds, with frequent lifting up to 45 pounds, occasionally up to 60 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Collect and organize shopping carts inside the store and in the parking lot.
• Assist customers with loading merchandise into carts and into their vehicles.
• Check retail prices on shelf for check stand personnel.
• Return go-backs to shelves and straighten merchandise on aisles.
• Monitor cleanliness of store entrance, sweep and mop, and manage trash.
• Maintain overall store cleanliness and restock restrooms as needed.
