Job summary

Smart & Final is seeking a Service Clerk in Gilroy to provide excellent customer service, assist customers, and help with loading groceries into vehicles. The role supports store operations and maintains a clean, organized shopping environment.

Starting at $16.90 per hour, the position requires English literacy and physical stamina to lift and move items up to 60 pounds. This on-site role emphasizes teamwork, community engagement, and efficient retail operations.

Qualifications

• Read and write English, interact with general public and co-workers.
• Read and comprehend simple instructions, product labels, shelf tags, and memos.
• Write simple correspondence.
• Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group settings to customers and staff.
• Apply common sense to carry out detailed but uninvolved instructions.

Responsibilities

• Collect and organize shopping carts and retrieve carts from parking lots and surrounding areas.
• Assist customers with loading merchandise into carts and into their vehicles.
• Check shelf prices for check stand personnel.
• Return mis‑placed items to shelves and ensure aisles are faced and tidy.
• Maintain store cleanliness including entrances, restrooms, and restocking as needed.
• Support store operations and maintain safety and customer service standards.
