Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The associate is responsible for the following functions, in addition to other duties as assigned:

1. Keeps the Grocery department well stocked, organized, and appealing to meet customer demands and maximize sales. Builds displays to drive incremental sales. Stocks and rotates merchandise to ensure freshness. Keeps product within easy customer reach. Stores excess merchandise according to backroom organization guidelines.
2. Greets customers with a smile, answers questions, and helps resolve concerns promptly in a polite and professional manner.
3. Uses proper stocking techniques to ensure products are correctly located on shelves, in saleable condition, with accurate prices and signs.
4. May assist with receiving, unloading, checking-in, breaking-down, and storing deliveries using a power jack or hand jack (if trained – training provided).
5. Handles damaged or discontinued items according to company policy. Removes unsellable products.
6. Maintains cleanliness in the department, following cleaning schedules and guidelines to meet health and OSHA standards. Properly disposes of trash.
7. Maintains productivity, work standards, and shrink control. Complies with security policies. Puts out stock efficiently as per company standards.
8. May assist with baling cardboard or related duties (if trained – training provided).
9. Ensures smooth department and store operation by cooperating with co-workers and supervisors. Focuses on continuous job performance improvement.
10. Uses all provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including cut-resistant gloves, safety cutters, and company-sponsored footwear.
11. May be called upon to assist in other departments.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position currently has no supervisory responsibilities.
