Job Description:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The associate is responsible for the following duties, in addition to other tasks as assigned:

1. Keeps the Grocery department well stocked, organized, and appealing to meet customer demands and maximize sales. Builds displays to drive incremental sales. Stocks and rotates merchandise to ensure freshness. Keeps products within easy customer reach. Stores excess merchandise according to backroom organization guidelines.
2. Greets customers with a smile, answers questions, and helps resolve concerns promptly in a polite and professional manner.
3. Applies proper stocking techniques to ensure products are correctly located on shelves, and merchandise is in saleable condition with correct prices and signs.
4. May assist with receiving, unloading, checking-in, breaking down, and storing deliveries using a power jack or hand jack (if properly trained — training provided).
5. Handles damaged or discontinued items according to company policy. Removes unsellable products.
6. Ensures general sanitation in the department by following cleaning schedules and department guidelines to maintain work areas, equipment, counters, and display cases in a clean and compliant state.
7. Maintains productivity standards, work methods, and shrink control. Complies with security regulations and policies. Puts out stock at a rate determined by company standards.
8. May assist with baling cardboard or other related duties (if properly trained — training provided).
9. Ensures smooth department and store operation by cooperating with co-workers and supervisors. Continuously seeks to improve job performance.
10. Utilizes all company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including but not limited to cut-resistant gloves, safety cutters, and company-sponsored footwear.
11. May be called upon to assist in other departments as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position currently has no supervisory responsibilities.
