Job summary

You will assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals, monitor quality standards, and uphold the Customer 1st strategy, while embodying respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.

Qualifications

• Must be able to handle stressful situations.
• Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction) required.
• Excellent communication skills with customers and team.

Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions regarding products.
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products and respond to questions with suggestions.
• Recommend grocery items to customers and inform them of specials.
• Check product quality to ensure freshness and review sell-by dates.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise and provide customers with fresh products.
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Display a positive attitude.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and logs kept.
• Reinforce safety programs and identify unsafe conditions.
• Practice preventive maintenance and notify management of repairs.
• Notify management of accidents.
• Report safety risks and illegal activity.
• Perform essential job functions with/without accommodation.
