Job summary

Responsibilities include helping customers, sharing product knowledge, suggesting items, ensuring food safety, maintaining stock, and communicating safety concerns to management.

Qualifications

• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
• Effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome and valued by answering questions about products in the department and store.
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products and respond to questions with helpful suggestions.
• Recommend grocery items and inform customers about specials.
• Check product quality, review sell-by dates and take appropriate action.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise and provide fresh products requested by customers.
• Report ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Display a positive attitude and stay current with ads.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and maintain temperature logs.
• Reinforce safety programs and identify unsafe conditions to management.
• Inspect equipment and notify management of needed repairs.
• Notify management of accidents or safety risks; report theft or fraud.
• Must be able to perform essential job functions with or without accommodation.
