Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a proactive leader to manage the Food Department and overall store when designated as Manager on Duty. You will ensure efficient inventory, attractive merchandise presentation, and excellent customer service while safeguarding assets and enforcing food handling rules.

Responsibilities include cash accountability, training, scheduling, and supervising operations in the absence of Store/Assistant Store Managers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2–3 years of retail clerk experience.
• Previous lead experience and/or grocery store experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Manage Food Department and store during Manager on Duty shifts.
• Authorize refunds/overrides, count registers, and deposit funds.
• Maintain cash accountability, key control, and security practices.
• Train employees and supervise store operations in the absence of the Store Manager.
• Ensure stocking, rotation, presentation, and safety compliance of perishable foods.
• Oversee merchandise presentation, pricing changes, and inventory control.
