Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Food Department Manager on Duty to lead the grocery area and overall store operations. You will ensure inventory accuracy, appealing presentation, strong customer service, and a safe work environment.

Responsibilities include refund approvals, cash accountability, training staff, managing scheduling, and maintaining compliance with food handling rules. Experience in retail leadership and food handling certifications is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in retail environment with cash handling responsibilities.
• Previous lead experience preferred.
• Attainment of local/state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Food Department and store operations as manager on duty.
• Authorize refunds and overrides; manage register and deposits.
• Train and develop associates; ensure scheduling coverage.
• Maintain inventory and product presentation; ensure safety and compliance.
• Assist in merchandising, price changes, markdowns, and stock rotation.
• Ensure excellent customer service and cash control procedures.
