Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Food Department Manager on Duty to lead store operations, oversee inventory, merchandise presentation, and customer service while ensuring safety and asset protection. You will train staff and maintain cash controls, ensuring compliance with food handling rules across shifts.

Under supervision, this role handles refunds/overrides, scheduling, and daily workflow to support store performance and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two to three years of retail clerk experience preferred.
• Previous lead experience and/or grocery store experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Authorize refunds and overrides; count register and deposit money.
• Maintain cash accountability and security practices to ensure store integrity.
• Lead store operations in the absence of Store/Assistant Manager.
• Assist in training associates on stocking, presentation, and food handling.
• Ensure compliance with food handling rules and safety standards.
• Assist with daily workflow, scheduling coverage, and customer service.
• Direct new merchandise receipt, stocking, and display according to plan.
