Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Manager on Duty to lead the Grocery Food Department and assist in overall store operations. You will ensure accurate inventory, attractive merchandising, and exceptional customer service while maintaining food safety and asset protection.

The role includes supervising associates, training staff, and enforcing cash controls, security practices, and daily store procedures.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control.
• Ability to perform cash register functions and ensure financial integrity of the store.
• Understanding of safety policies and practices and compliance with SOPs.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Grocery Food Department and store when designated as Manager on duty.
• Oversee inventory management, merchandising, and customer service quality.
• Train associates in stocking, presentation, and safe food handling.
• Schedule staffing and ensure coverage, cash accountability, and security.
• Assist in price and signage execution, and tote inventory management.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Two to three years of retail clerk experience

Previous lead experience and/or grocery store experience preferred

Ability to perform cash handling and CASH handling procedures

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to read plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance

Ability to obtain food handling certifications
