Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager on Duty to lead the Food Department and total store performance. You will ensure inventory control, attractive merchandise presentation, and quality customer service while maintaining a safe environment and asset protection.

You will oversee refunds, cash handling, and store cash controls, train staff, and support Store/Assistant Managers. Experience in retail leadership and food handling certifications is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2–3 years of retail clerk experience preferred.
• Previous lead experience in grocery or retail is desirable.
• Must obtain local food handling certifications if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Food Department and store operations when on duty.
• Authorize refunds and overrides; count cash and deposit to bank.
• Maintain cash accountability and security practices.
• Train and develop associates; supervise scheduling and coverage.
• Ensure proper stocking, rotation, and presentation of groceries.
• Maintain safety and sanitation standards across the store.
