Job summary

City Market is seeking an Assistant Department Manager for the Grocery Department in Grand Junction, CO. You will assist in planning, staffing, training and directing associates to deliver prompt, courteous service while maximizing store sales and profits.

You’ll work with CAO ordering, pricing, merchandising and promotional initiatives, ensuring compliance with company policies and safety standards, and you’ll contribute to budgets and goals with the Department Manager.

Qualifications

• Flexibility to work mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends as needed.
• Outstanding written and spoken communication skills.
• Ability to make swift, informed decisions under pressure.
• Capable of training and scheduling associates while maintaining service quality.
• Focus on merchandising, layout, signage and customer experience.
• Knowledge of department operations including ordering, inventory, shrink control and budgets.

Responsibilities

• Assist Department Manager in organizing staffing and training to ensure prompt service.
• Respond professionally to customer or associate inquiries and issues.
• Use CAO to manage merchandise quantities and receivables.
• Price and display merchandise, maintain signage and shelf rotation.
• Promote company programs and ensure policy adherence across the team.
• Provide input on department budgets, goals and results.
• Supervise and schedule associates, ensuring safe, clean working conditions.
• Maintain equipment and facilities to company standards.
