Job summary

Kroger in Grand Junction, CO is seeking an Assistant Department Manager for the Grocery Department. You will assist in planning, organizing, staffing and training associates to deliver prompt, courteous service to customers.

Responsibilities include coordinating staffing, training, ordering, pricing, merchandising and enforcing policies while focusing on safety, budgets and department goals.

Qualifications

• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to manage people and organize workloads.
• Experience with production, merchandising and customer services.
• Understanding of department operations including staffing, merchandising, ordering, inventory, shrink control, scheduling, and expenses.
• Familiarity with employment laws and OSHA compliance.
• Willingness to work varied shifts, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Department Manager in organizing work, filling staffing needs and training schedules to ensure prompt courteous service.
• Respond to customer and associate questions, complaints and requests professionally.
• Use CAO to manage ordering and balance on-hand inventory in the Department Manager’s absence.
• Price and display merchandise, maintain signage, rotation, freshness and space allocation.
• Coach associates in merchandising, customer service and promotional activities.
• Implement company programs and ensure adherence to policies, dress code and safety.
• Provide input on department budgets, goals and results.
• Communicate with associates and customers to create a positive impression.
• Maintain equipment, facilities and grocery areas to sanitary standards.
• Promote company initiatives and process improvements with the team.
• Demonstrate the ability to manage people and workloads.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
