Job summary

King Soopers is seeking an Assistant Department Manager to help plan, organize, staff, train and direct Grocery Department associates, while maximizing store sales and profits safely and ethically in accordance with policies. You will work closely with the Department Manager to schedule staff, oversee merchandising, pricing, signage and customer service, and ensure a compliant, productive work environment.

Qualifications

• Willing to work mornings, afternoons, evenings, and nights as needed.
• Willing and available to work weekends and holidays as needed.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to make quick, intelligent decisions under pressure.

• Experience in production, merchandising and customer services related to sales.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Department Manager in organizing work, staffing needs and training of associates.
• Provide prompt, courteous service and respond to customer or associate comments and questions.
• Use CAO to manage merchandise orders and balance on hand in the Department Manager's absence.
• Perform pricing and display of merchandise, maintain signage, rotation, and space allocation.
• Engage and counsel staff on merchandising techniques, customer service, and promotions.
• Ensure compliance with company policies on dress code, grooming, sanitation and positive work environment.
• Input department budgets, goals and results to the Department Manager and participate in governance.
• Communicate with associates and customers to create a positive impression and teamwork.
• Maintain equipment, facilities and grocery areas to sanitary standards.
• Promote and implement company initiatives and process improvements with the team.
• Demonstrate ability to manage people and organize workloads.
