Job summary

The Kroger Co. is seeking a team-oriented individual to assist the Grocery Department Manager in planning, organizing, staffing, training and directing department associates.

You will perform production and customer service functions, maximize store sales, and ensure safe, ethical operations in line with company policies. Responsibilities include organizing work, training staff, managing CAO orders, pricing and displaying goods, and maintaining compliance with standards.

Qualifications

• Flexible scheduling (mornings, afternoons, evenings, nights) as workload requires.
• Effective written and oral communication skills are essential.
• Ability to make quick, intelligent decisions under pressure.
• Proven ability to manage people and organize workloads.
• Experience in production, merchandising and customer services related to sale of merchandise.
• Understanding of department operations (staffing, merchandising, ordering, inventory, shrink, labor scheduling, expenses).
• Knowledge of employment laws and OSHA compliance.

Responsibilities

• Assist Department Manager in organizing work and staffing; train and schedule associates to ensure prompt, courteous service.
• Respond to customer or associate comments, complaints, requests, and questions calmly and professionally.
• Use CAO to order appropriate quantities and track receipts and balance on hand.
• Price and display merchandise; maintain signage, rotation, freshness, quantity and space.
• Promote merchandising techniques, customer service, product presentation and promotions.
• Ensure compliance with company policies on dress code, sanitation and harassment/discrimination policies.
