Job summary

The Kroger Co. is seeking an Assist Department Manager for the Grocery Department in Fruita, CO.

You will assist in planning, organizing, staffing, training and directing associates to provide prompt, courteous service to customers while maximizing store sales and profits in a safe, ethical manner. Responsibilities include organizing work, staffing, training, using CAO for ordering, pricing and merchandising, and ensuring policies on dress, sanitation, and harassment prevention are followed.

Qualifications

• Ability to manage people and workloads.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Understanding of department operations including staffing, merchandising and inventory control.
• Flexibility to work mornings, afternoons, evenings, nights and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Department Manager in organizing work and staffing needs, and training and scheduling associates for prompt service.
• Respond to customer and associate comments, complaints, requests and questions professionally.
• Use CAO to manage ordering quantities and ensure accurate receipts and balances in the Department Manager's absence.
• Price and display merchandise, maintain signage, rotation, freshness and space allocation.
• Engage staff in merchandising techniques, customer service, product presentation and promotions.
• Follow company programs and policies, including dress code, sanitation and harassment/discrimination prevention.
• Provide input on department budgets, goals and results.
• Communicate with associates and customers to foster a positive impression.
• Maintain equipment, facilities and cleanliness to sanitary standards.
