Job summary

Kroger is seeking a store department manager to lead the grocery team, ensuring exceptional customer service and a safe, clean shopping environment. You will direct daily operations, manage inventory, pricing, and promotions, and support budget and financial reporting with store leadership.

The role requires ability to lead, communicate, and resolve issues in a fast-paced setting while upholding Kroger's values of respect, integrity, and safety.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Any management experience preferred.
• 1 year of grocery retail experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to food safety regulations and maintain proper temperatures and logs.
• Report safety risks, theft, or fraud; notify management of incidents.
• Train department staff on inventory/stocking and CAO systems.
• Plan, organize, and supervise inventory processes.
• Schedule price changes and update shelf tags and promotional signs.
• Monitor inventory conditions and note discrepancies.
• Assist store management with budget, P&L reviews, and financial reporting.
• Monitor and control department expenses.
• Keep current with ads and promotions; execute period promotional plans.
• Prepare seasonal critiques for sales and merchandising supervisor.
• Create and execute store promotions with management.
• Understand store layout and locate products efficiently.
• Respond to product questions and suggest alternatives.
• Follow all laws and company guidelines; ensure compliance.
• Train and develop associates and participate in performance reviews.
• Schedule adequately to handle customer volume.
• Collaborate with associates to achieve store goals.
• Communicate department information to associates.
• Supervise and coach direct reports; provide feedback.
