Job summary

The Kroger Company is seeking an Assistant Department Manager in Gainesville, GA to assist the Grocery Department with planning, organizing, staffing, and directing associates while maximizing store sales and profits in a safe, ethical manner.

You will help with training, scheduling, customer service, merchandising, and implementing company initiatives, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures. Flexible scheduling may be available, including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to make intelligent decisions quickly.
• Able to tactfully and calmly handle stressful situations and make a positive impression on associates and customers.
• Knowledge of department operations (managing people, merchandising, inventory, scheduling, etc.).
• Willing to work varied shifts including mornings, afternoons, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Department Manager in planning, organizing, staffing and directing Grocery Department associates.
• Provide prompt courteous service and respond to customer and associate comments or requests.
• Manage ordering with Computer Assisted Ordering (CAO) and track product receipts and shelf balance.
• Price, display and rotate merchandise; maintain signage and space allocation.
• Promote company initiatives and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
