Job summary

Kroger is seeking an Assistant Department Manager candidate to help plan, organize and direct Grocery Department associates in Gunnison, CO. You will assist in staffing, training and scheduling while ensuring courteous service and profitable store operations.

The role emphasizes adherence to company policies, product presentation, and stock management, with opportunities for growth within store operations.

Qualifications

• Willing to work flexible hours including mornings, afternoons, evenings and nights.

• Experience in production, merchandising and customer service related to sale of merchandise.

• Ability to operate power machinery and tools used in the department.
• Grocery retail work experience and/or backup manager experience.
• Dependability and integrity reflected in past work history.

Responsibilities

• Assist Department Manager in planning, organizing, staffing and directing associates.
• Provide prompt, courteous customer service and handle inquiries and complaints tactfully.
• Use CAO to manage ordering, inventory and balance on hand in the manager's absence.
• Price, display and rotate merchandise; ensure signage and space allocation are proper.
• Promote merchandising techniques, customer service, and product presentation.
• Implement company programs and adhere to policies, including dress code and sanitation.
• Provide input on department budgets, goals and results.
• Communicate with associates and customers to create a positive impression.
• Maintain equipment, facilities, floor and shelf cleanliness to sanitary standards.
• Lead and train associates in initiatives and process improvements.
• Demonstrate ability to manage people and workloads.
• Perform any duties assigned by management.
