Job summary

Kroger in Chesapeake, VA is seeking an Assistant Department Manager to support Grocery Department operations and staff. You will help plan, organize and direct associates, ensuring prompt service and safety while maximizing store performance.

The role emphasizes leadership, merchandising, and daily supervision, with opportunities for training and growth within Store Operations at Kroger.

Qualifications

Experience in grocery department operations and leadership.
Ability to plan, organize and prioritize tasks across teams.
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Familiarity with pricing, merchandising and inventory control.
Understanding of safety and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

Assist the Department Manager in organizing work and staffing while training and scheduling associates.
Ensure prompt courteous service to customers and respond to inquiries professionally.
Use CAO to manage ordering and balance on hand in the Department Manager’s absence.
Support pricing, display, signage, rotation, and shelf organization for merchandise.
Promote company initiatives and drive process improvements with the team.
Maintain a safe, clean work environment and ensure compliance with policies.
