Job summary

The Kroger Co. is seeking a Department Manager to lead the Grocery department in Richmond, ensuring an outstanding customer experience and safe, clean store conditions. You will direct daily department functions, supervise associates, and support store management in budgeting, promotions, and inventory control.

You will train staff, enforce food safety, and implement period ads and seasonal promotions while delivering excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Any management experience required.
• Desirable: 1 year of grocery retail experience.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to food safety regulations and temperature controls; maintain logs.
• Report safety risks, theft or fraud; notify management of incidents.
• Train department associates on inventory, CAO, and stock procedures.
• Plan, organize and supervise the inventory process.
• Schedule price changes and update shelf tags and promotions.
• Assist with budget, P&L reviews and monitor expenses.
• Stay aware of ads and promotional plans; implement them for the department.
• Create and execute sales promotions with store management.
• Understand store layout and product location; answer product questions.
