Job summary

The Kroger Co. is seeking an Assistant Department Manager for the Grocery Department in Apache Junction, AZ. You will help plan, staff, train and direct associates, ensuring prompt service and safe, ethical operations in line with company policies.

• Understand department operations: staffing, merchandising, ordering, inventory, shrink control, scheduling, expenses.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Department Manager in organizing work, staffing, training and scheduling associates for prompt courteous service.
• Respond to customer/associate comments, complaints, requests, accidents and questions; stay tactful, calm and professional.
• Use CAO to manage ordering and balance on hand in the manager’s absence.
• Perform and direct pricing and display of merchandise; maintain signage, rotation, freshness and space.
• Counsel associates in merchandising techniques, customer service, presentation and promotions.
• Follow company programs and policies; ensure proper dress, grooming, sanitation and a safe work environment.
• Provide input on budgets, goals and results for the department.
• Communicate with associates and customers to create a positive impression.
• Maintain equipment, facilities and cleanliness to sanitary standards.
• Promote company initiatives and process improvements to direct reports.
• Demonstrate ability to manage people and workloads.
• Perform any duties as assigned.
