Job summary

Kroger Family of Companies in Glendale, AZ is seeking an Assistant Department Manager for the Grocery Department to assist in planning, staffing, training and directing associates, while ensuring safe, ethical operations and excellent customer service. You will use CAO to order merchandise, price and display products, monitor signage and inventory, support budgets, and promote company initiatives.

The role requires flexibility with shifts, strong communication, and the ability to lead teams

Qualifications

• Willing to work mornings/afternoons/evenings/nights as needed.
• Willing to work weekends and holidays as needed.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to make intelligent decisions quickly.
• Able to tactfully handle stressful situations.
• Knowledge of department operations (merchandising, ordering, inventory, scheduling, etc.).
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations related to employment practices.
• Experience operating power machinery/tools.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Department Manager in organizing work and staffing as authorized.
• Respond to customer and associate comments, complaints, requests, and questions professionally.
• Use CAO to manage ordering and balance on hand in the department.
• Perform and direct pricing and displaying of merchandise and maintain signage and shelves.
• Engage in merchandising techniques, customer service, and product presentation.
• Follow company programs and adhere to policies and dress code and safety standards.
• Provide input on department budgets, goals, and results.
• Communicate with associates and customers to create a positive impression.
• Keep equipment and facilities clean and safe according to policies.
