Job summary

The Kroger Company is seeking an Assistant Department Manager to support Grocery Department operations in Evergreen, Colorado. You will help plan, organize and direct staffing, training and daily activities to deliver prompt, courteous service and safe, ethical store operations.

Your role involves managing ordering via CAO, pricing and display duties, and promoting strong customer service and product presentation.

Qualifications

• Willing to work mornings, afternoons, evenings, nights as required.
• Willing to work weekends and holidays as needed.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to make quick, informed decisions.
• Calmly handle stressful situations and project a positive image to customers and associates.
• Experience in production, merchandising and customer service related to merchandise sales.
• Knowledge of department operations including staffing, merchandising, inventory, and scheduling.
• Understanding of applicable employment laws and OSHA compliance.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Department Manager in organizing work and staffing the department.
• Schedule and train associates to ensure prompt, courteous service for customers.
• Use CAO to manage ordering and balance on hand in the absence of the Department Manager.
• Price, display and rotate merchandise; ensure proper signage and space allocation.
• Promote merchandising techniques, customer service, product presentation and promotions.
• Follow company policies, including dress code, grooming and a safe, harassment-free environment.
• Provide input on department budgets, goals and results.
• Communicate with associates and customers to create a positive impression.
• Maintain equipment, facilities and sanitation to policy standards.
• Keep floor, shelves and grocery areas clean and organized.
• Support implementation of company programs and process improvements with the team.
• Demonstrate ability to manage people and workloads effectively.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.
