Job summary

The Kroger family of companies is seeking an Assistant Department Manager for the Grocery Department in Omaha, NE. You will assist in planning, organizing, staffing, training and directing associates to maximize store sales while upholding company values.

You will coordinate staffing, training, scheduling, pricing, merchandising, and customer service, while ensuring compliance with safety, dress code and policies. Opportunity for advancement and comprehensive benefits available.

Qualifications

• Ability to work mornings, afternoons, evenings, and nights as required.
• Willingness to work weekends and holidays as needed.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to manage people and organize workloads.
• Knowledge of department operations including CAO, inventory, scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Assist Department Manager in organizing staffing and training associates for prompt courteous service.
• Respond to customer or associate comments, complaints, requests, accidents, and questions professionally.
• Use CAO to manage ordering and balance on hand in the Department Manager’s absence.
• Price and display merchandise with proper signage, rotation, and space allocation.
• Counsel associates in merchandising techniques, customer service, and promotions.
• Ensure compliance with dress code, sanitation, and workplace policies.
• Provide input on department budgets, goals and results.
• Maintain equipment, facilities, and cleanliness to sanitary standards.
• Promote and implement company initiatives positively to direct reports.
• Demonstrate ability to manage people and workloads.
