Albertsons Companies is seeking an Assistant Grocery Manager to support the Grocery Manager in daily department operations, focusing on product availability, merchandising standards, inventory control, and customer service. The role provides leadership to associates and assumes department responsibility in the manager’s absence.

You will lead, coach, and develop staff, coordinate stocking, shelf maintenance, pricing, and promotions, and help ensure a safe, efficient, and profitable department.

Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise daily Grocery Department operations.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to department associates.
• Promote friendly, efficient, and professional customer service.
• Respond to customer questions and resolve concerns appropriately.
• Communicate department priorities, assignments, and expectations to associates.
• Assume responsibility for department operations in the Grocery Manager's absence.
• Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment.
• Support daily stocking, replenishment, conditioning, and recovery of the department.
• Ensure shelves and displays are stocked, organized, and maintained.
• Monitor product availability and minimize out-of-stocks.
• Rotate products properly and maintain quality per standards.
• Coordinate deliveries, receiving, backroom organization, and product movement.
• Maintain a clean, organized, customer-ready department.
• Identify and address operational issues with leadership to resolve them.
• Assist with merchandising plans, displays, promotions, and seasonal programs.
• Ensure pricing, signing, and promotional displays are accurate.
• Support department sales and profitability goals.
• Monitor sales trends and product movement to identify opportunities.
• Ensure promotional merchandise is stocked and available.
• Maintain merchandising standards throughout the department.
• Support inventory management and product-ordering activities.
• Monitor inventory levels and maintain appropriate quantities.
• Assist with counts and audits.
• Identify shrink and discrepancies and address them.
• Rotate products to reduce waste and maintain quality.
• Support asset-protection and inventory-control procedures.
• Assist with training and onboarding Grocery Department associates.
• Provide ongoing coaching and feedback on responsibilities and standards.
• Help assign daily tasks and follow up to ensure completion.
• Support scheduling and staffing based on workload.
• Reinforce customer service, productivity, safety, and operational expectations.
• Identify training and development opportunities for associates.
• Ensure department operations follow policies, procedures, and safety standards.
• Promote safe work practices and address hazards.
• Maintain sanitation and housekeeping standards.
• Ensure equipment is used safely.
• Support completion of department documentation, inspections, and compliance.
