Job summary

Smith's Food & Drug Centers seeks an Assist Department Manager for the Grocery Department. You will plan, organize, staff, train and direct associates to deliver prompt, courteous service while maintaining store standards.

You will oversee production, merchandising and inventory, using CAO for ordering and balance on hand, and you will ensure compliance with safety, policies and procedures during all shifts.

Qualifications

• Effective production, merchandising and customer service skills.
• Ability to manage department operations including staffing and scheduling.
• Knowledge of CAO; able to control inventory and enforce safety/regulatory standards.
• Willing to work varied shifts including mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Familiarity with policies and procedures to maintain professional store environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist Department Manager in planning, organizing, staffing, training and directing Grocery Department associates.
• Perform production and customer service functions; maximize store sales and profits safely and ethically.
• Use CAO to manage ordering quantities and balance on hand in the Department Manager's absence.
• Price and display merchandise; maintain signage, rotation, freshness and space allocation for merchandise.
• Engage with associates and customers to promote products and provide excellent service.
• Follow company programs and dress code, sanitation and harassment/discrimination policies.
