Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of basic math
  • Ability to fully complete the cashier training program
  • Ability to memorize produce items and sale items
  • Effective communication and reading skills
  • Must be 18 years old

Essential Job Functions:

  • Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently; understand the Point of Sale system; handle various tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures according to company policy.
  • Rotate all merchandise according to code dating policies and check product quality to ensure freshness; review sell-by dates and take appropriate action.
  • Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold.
  • Maintain knowledge of products sold and respond to questions and make suggestions about products.
  • Greet, engage, and assist customers.
  • Inform customers of grocery specials.
  • Order, label, stock, and inventory merchandise.
  • Report product ordering, shipping, and pricing discrepancies to store management.
  • Adhere to company's limits on cash shortages and/or overages and work to control loss.
  • Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (e.g., Alcohol, Tobacco, Fireworks).
  • Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines, ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers, and maintain temperature logs.
  • Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions.
  • Perform preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of repairs.
  • Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
  • Follow all local, state, and federal laws, and company guidelines.
  • Physical demands include standing for up to 100% of the time, lifting an average of 50 lbs., pushing/pulling carts and skids, bending, twisting, squatting, turning, climbing on ladders or stools, manual dexterity, and repetitive motions.
  • Work cooperatively in high-paced and sometimes stressful environments.
  • Manage conflict reasonably and cooperatively.
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues.
  • Support and assist with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  • Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
