Job Description

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

• Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently; understand the Point of Sale system, handle various tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures according to company policy.
• Rotate all merchandise according to code dating policies and check product quality to ensure freshness; review sell-by dates and take appropriate action.
• Promote trust and respect among team members.
• Create a welcoming environment for customers by answering questions regarding products sold.
• Maintain knowledge of products sold and respond to customer questions and suggestions.
• Greet, engage, and assist customers.
• Inform customers of grocery specials.
• Order, label, stock, and inventory merchandise.
• Report discrepancies in product ordering, shipping, and pricing to management.
• Adhere to company limits on cash shortages/overages and work to control loss.
• Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, Fireworks).
• Stay current with ads and promotions.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and maintain proper temperatures and logs.
• Reinforce safety programs and notify management of unsafe conditions or accidents.
• Inspect equipment and notify management of repairs needed.
• Perform physical tasks such as standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, and climbing.
• Work cooperatively in a high-paced environment and manage conflicts professionally.
• Act with honesty and integrity with customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek assistance when needed.
• Support and assist customers, including minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
• Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.

Qualifications

Minimum Position Qualifications:

• Basic math knowledge.
• Complete cashier training program.
• Memorize produce and sale items.
• Effective communication and reading skills.
• Must be 18 years old.

Desired Previous Job Experience:

• Customer service experience.
