Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
- Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently; understand the Point of Sale system, handle various tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures according to company policy.
- Rotate all merchandise according to code dating policies and check product quality to ensure freshness; review sell-by dates and take appropriate action.
- Promote trust and respect among team members.
- Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions about products.
- Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold; respond to questions and make suggestions.
- Greet, engage, and assist customers.
- Inform customers of grocery specials.
- Order, label, stock, and inventory merchandise.
- Report product ordering, shipping, and pricing discrepancies to store management.
- Adhere to company's limits on cash shortages and/or overages and work to control loss.
- Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (e.g., Alcohol, Tobacco, Fireworks).
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained; keep temperature logs.
- Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures; identify unsafe conditions and notify management.
- Inspect equipment regularly and notify management of repairs.
- Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
- Follow all laws and company guidelines.
- Physical demands include standing, lifting, pushing/pulling, bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, manual dexterity, and repetitive motions.
- Work cooperatively in high-paced and stressful environments.
- Manage conflict reasonably and cooperatively.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Follow directions and seek assistance when needed.
- Support interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
- Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Qualifications
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- Knowledge of basic math
- Ability to complete cashier training
- Ability to memorize produce and sale items
- Effective communication and reading skills
- Must be 18 years old
