Job Description

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

1. Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently; understand the Point of Sale system, and handle various tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures according to company policy.
2. Rotate all merchandise according to code dating policies and check product quality to ensure freshness; review sell-by dates and take appropriate action.
3. Promote trust and respect among team members.
4. Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold.
5. Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold and respond to questions and make suggestions about products.
6. Greet, engage, and assist customers.
7. Inform customers of grocery specials.
8. Order, label, stock, and inventory merchandise.
9. Report product ordering, shipping, and pricing discrepancies to store management.
10. Adhere to company's limits on cash shortages and/or overages and work honestly to control loss.
11. Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (e.g., Alcohol, Tobacco, Fireworks).
12. Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
13. Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
14. Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers and keep temperature logs.
15. Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions.
16. Inspect equipment regularly and notify management of repairs needed.
17. Report customer or employee accidents.
18. Follow all applicable laws and company guidelines.
19. Physical demands include standing up to 100% of the time, lifting an average of 50 lbs., pushing/pulling carts, bending, twisting, and other manual tasks.
20. Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
21. Manage conflict reasonably and cooperatively.
22. Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
23. Follow directions and seek assistance when needed.
24. Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
25. Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications

Minimum Position Qualifications:

1. Knowledge of basic math.
2. Complete the cashier training program.
3. Memorize produce and sale items.
4. Effective communication and reading skills.
5. Must be 18 years old.

Desired Previous Job Experience:

1. Customer service experience.
2. Retail experience.
