Job summary

Hy-Vee, Inc. is seeking a Checker in the Grocery department. You will operate the register, assist customers, and help ensure every visit ends on a great note.

This hourly position involves greeting customers, scanning products, handling payments, and helping with price changes and promotions. Training is provided, and safety and service are priorities in our fast-paced store environment.

Qualifications

• No formal education requirements; Hy-Vee provides training.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service by greeting customers with a smile and learning their names.
• Operate the cash register and process all payment types including cash, checks, credit cards, coupons, food stamps, WIC checks, rain checks.
• Count back change, issue receipts, and provide cash refunds or credit memorandums for returns.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines regarding WIC, food stamps, tobacco, liquor, and lottery items.
• Stock, face, and rotate merchandise; assist customers to items and support drive-up and carry-out services.
• Maintain register area cleanliness and report improper cash levels; verify balances at start/end of shift.
