Job summary

Hy-Vee is seeking a friendly Checker to greet customers, operate the register, and help throughout the store. You will process payments, issue receipts, and ensure accuracy and compliance with store policies. The role emphasizes customer service, accuracy, and teamwork in a fast-paced grocery setting.

Training is provided; prior experience is not required. This is an hourly role in a retail grocery environment, with opportunities to grow within the store operations team.

Qualifications

• Follow detailed written or verbal instructions and work through tasks with a few concrete variables.
• Perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
• Understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions and communicate supply needs orally or in writing.
• Work effectively as part of a team to deliver a great customer experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service by greeting customers with a smile and assisting them.
• Operate the cash register and process payment types, including cash, cards, checks, and coupons.
• Stock, face, rotate merchandise, and keep shelves clean and organized.
• Verify cash drawer balances and report discrepancies per store policy.
• Assist with store promotions, displays, and special events as needed.
• Maintain personal hygiene, dress standards, and Hy-Vee policies.
