Job Summary
The Machine Operator will operate precision grinding machines, including CNC grinders, surface grinders, and cylindrical grinders, to produce high-precision components that meet stringent quality standards. This role requires technical expertise, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Machine Operation: Set up, operate, and monitor precision grinding machines (e.g., CNC grinders, surface grinders, cylindrical grinders) to produce parts according to blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Quality Control: Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, CMM) to ensure compliance with tolerances and quality standards.
- Tooling and Setup: Select and install appropriate grinding wheels, fixtures, and tooling; adjust machine settings to achieve desired results.
- Maintenance: Perform routine machine maintenance, including cleaning, lubricating, and identifying potential mechanical issues to ensure optimal performance.
- Documentation: Record production data, including quantities produced, machine settings, and inspection results, in accordance with company procedures.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe handling of materials and equipment.
- Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with team members to identify process improvements, reduce waste, and enhance production efficiency.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical training or certification in machining or precision grinding.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience operating precision grinding machines or similar CNC machinery in a manufacturing environment.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical blueprints and engineering drawings.
- Familiarity with precision measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, dial indicators).
- Basic understanding of CNC programming and G-code is a plus.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks in a fast-paced environment.
