Electric Power Engineers, LLC is seeking an experienced Power Systems Software Engineer to join our software team in Austin. The role sits at the intersection of transmission planning and software, delivering automated, cloud-based tools used by utilities, ISOs/RTOs, and developers.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on power systems; a Master's degree is a plus.
4+ years of experience as a power systems engineer in transmission planning and analysis, generation interconnection, or renewable energy development.
Hands-on experience performing power system studies such as steady-state, short circuit, and/or dynamic stability.
Working proficiency in at least one major power system analysis tool (e.g., PSS/E, PSLF, PowerWorld, TSAT/DSATools, PSCAD, ASPEN, TARA).
Familiarity with ISO/RTO processes (e.g., SPP, MISO, PJM, ERCOT, CAISO) and interconnection/queue processes.

Responsibilities

Design, test, and validate software that supports transmission planning and interconnection assessment workflows.
Collaborate with power system engineers, software developers, and product owners to define requirements and automate processes.
Develop and validate software tools to accelerate studies and simulations for transmission planning.
Manage data inputs, versioning, and reproducibility of models and cases.
Benchmark tool results against industry software and resolve discrepancies for accuracy and reliability.
Write methodology notes, user guides and release validation reports.
