Job summary

1898 & Co., a part of Burns & McDonnell, seeks a Grid Systems - Consultant to perform hands‑on technical consulting and system integration in electric utility environments. You will configure, test, and implement grid management systems, and support advanced distribution applications within OT environments.

The role requires collaboration with architects, engineers, cybersecurity specialists, and project managers to ensure alignment with standards and secure, reliable operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, engineering, or a related field and 3 years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated enterprise system implementation skills.
• Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently under deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Execute technical consulting and system integration activities for grid and OT platforms.
• Configure, test, and support deployment of grid management systems such as SCADA, OMS, DMS, ADMS, and DERMS within utility OT environments.
• Implement and validate advanced distribution applications including power flow, state estimation, FLISR, VVO, and DER integration.
• Analyze OT system data, application outputs, and operational workflows to identify issues, validate results, and support system optimization.
• Perform system testing, commissioning, and cutover activities including functional and integration testing; defect triage and remediation; go-live support.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation such as configuration guides, test scripts, interface documentation, and operational support materials.
• Participate in requirements definition and technical workshops, translating needs into configurations and tasks.
• Support integration between OT systems and enterprise platforms within defined architectures.
