Job summary

The AES Corporation is seeking a Grid Coordinator for the Indianapolis Distribution area. You will provide supervision, leadership and training to field personnel while directing switching operations and ensuring reliable electric service.

You will ensure compliance with NERC/FERC/MISO requirements, forecast budgets and direct contingency plans for emergencies, while coordinating with Control Centers and Customer Operations to restore service efficiently.

Qualifications

• Experience in grid operations and switching in distribution systems.
• Ability to direct and train field personnel.
• Strong budgeting and cost-control experience.

Responsibilities

• Makes complex operating, engineering and economic decisions involving restoration of customer's service after system emergencies.
• Maintains a safe, professional work environment and develops employees' skills.
• Directs contingency plans for natural disasters and other critical situations.
• Directs work schedules and long-range planning with other departments.
• Directs Grid Operations personnel in customer matters during after-hours.
• Forecasts a significant portion of the operation and maintenance budget and controls those expenses.
• Receives, analyzes, schedules and assigns emergency and routine work to maintain continuity of electric service.
• Issues switching orders and directs repair/restoration of service on distribution systems.
• Reads, interprets, analyzes distribution data and corrects issues.
