Job summary

Siemens Gamesa, part of Siemens Energy, is seeking a self-driven Grid Compliance Technical Lead for the Onshore Americas region. You will lead grid code reviews, assess compliance, and guide analyses supporting wind power plant integration with utilities and regulators.

This role requires a Master’s in Electrical Power Engineering with 8–10 years in grid compliance and power system studies, plus hands-on experience with PSS/E and PSCAD.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Power Engineering; 8–10 years in grid compliance, renewable integration, and power system studies.
• Knowledge of grid regulations and experience with ERCOT, NERC, FERC, utilities, ISOs, and RTOs.
• Experience performing grid code reviews, compliance assessments, gap analyses, and risk evaluations.
• Electrical studies including Harmonics, LoadFlow, Dynamic Stability, Frequency Response, Transient Studies, Fault Ride-Through, Short Circuit Analysis.
• Strong understanding of inverter-based resources and grid integration requirements.
• Working knowledge of PSS/E, PSCAD, and related tools.
• Experience with wind turbines (DFIG and/or Full converter) or other converter-based units.
• Desirable experience supporting utility interconnection processes and industry standards development.

Responsibilities

• Lead grid code reviews, compliance evaluations, and gap analyses to identify risks and required product enhancements.
• Mentor and provide technical leadership on grid compliance requirements, interconnection standards, and renewable integration challenges for onshore Americas market.
• Support certification activities and engagement with utilities, transmission operators, consultants, and regulatory authorities.
• Lead analysis of power system studies to assess compliance with requirements related to voltage control, frequency response, fault ride-through, reactive power capability, harmonics, power quality, and short-circuit performance.
• Interpret simulation and field test results and identify necessary performance improvements.
• Review RMS (PSS®E) and EMT (PSCAD) models and simulation methodologies used for compliance and interconnection studies.
• Review and oversee benchmarking and validation of wind turbine and plant controller models against field measurements and reference data.
• Write technical reports where requirements, assumptions, results, and conclusions are clearly described.
• Support customer communication and technical meetings as the grid compliance subject matter expert.
