The New York City Department of Transportation (NYC DOT) is seeking a creative, hard-working graphic designer who can design for both digital and print mediums. Reporting directly to the Executive Director of Creative Services, the ideal candidate will manage demanding, highly-visible, large-scale design projects, including citywide initiatives like Summer Streets, Vision Zero, Open Streets, Car-Free Earth Day, and more. The selected candidate should possess the ability to present creative concepts to the Executive Director and agency staff, work with stakeholders on development, and oversee successful execution. This includes recommending the best ways to visually communicate new safety and transportation improvement projects for the public across NYC DOT channels (print, web, social media).
Responsibilities include maintaining existing NYC DOT brand and Vision Zero style guides; designing logos, icons, illustrations, postcards, flyers, posters, invitations, ads, brochures, banners, signage, diagrams, and reports for print, websites, mobile apps, and social media platforms; creating animations and motion graphics for digital campaigns; developing layouts, UI components, and interactive elements aligned with brand guidelines; collaborating with developers to ensure designs translate into effective UX web and app experiences; designing marketing materials such as banners, email templates, and digital ads; optimizing designs for various screen sizes; and staying updated on design trends, animation techniques, and emerging technologies.
