Job summary

VVSD is seeking an Accounting Specialist to join its Finance team in California. You will process accounts payable, payroll, and grant billing, while maintaining accurate records and supporting audits.

The role requires a 4-year degree and at least 3 years of accounting experience, including AP and payroll. You will collaborate with the Controller and CFO on GL accuracy and reporting.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in accounting or related field.
• At least 3 years in Accounts Payable and accounting work experience (non-profit experience preferred).
• Full charge bookkeeper experience with payroll processing.
• Experience with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, Outlook, MIP Cloud and various accounting software.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and meet due dates.

Responsibilities

• Process daily and weekly accounts payable and PO documents.
• Handle bi-weekly payroll and monthly grant/fund billing.
• Reconcile monthly account analysis and general ledger accuracy with Controller/CFO.
• Enter invoices, post journal entries, and maintain vendor records.
• Prepare and reconcile monthly general ledger accounts and bank statements.
• Assist with budgets for various grants and assist with annual audits.
