Job summary

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul Los Angeles is seeking an Accounting Specialist to handle day-to-day accounting, journal entries, bank reconciliations, grant accounting support, intercompany billing, and financial recordkeeping to support compliance and reporting.

The role requires 3–5 years nonprofit accounting experience, proficiency with Sage Intacct or similar ERP, strong Excel skills, and meticulous attention to detail. A full-time on-site position with competitive benefits is offered.

Qualifications

• Three to five years of accounting or finance experience required.
• Nonprofit accounting experience required.
• Knowledge of fund accounting principles required.
• Experience with grant accounting and compliance preferred.
• Experience with bank reconciliations, account reconciliations, and general ledger accounting required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, Pivot Tables, lookups, and financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post routine general journal entries.
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.
• Maintain bank reconciliations for multiple accounts.
• Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Assist with monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Maintain grant-related financial spreadsheets and compliance records.
• Assist with intercompany billings and allocations.
• Support audit preparation and Form 990 filings.
