Job summary

The Ford Foundation seeks multiple fixed-term Grants Officers to provide interim support across program areas, bridging operational gaps in grant administration and execution. Responsibilities include monitoring grants, due diligence, and grant coding with senior staff.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in philanthropy or nonprofit grantmaking, strong writing skills, and experience with grants management systems. This role operates on a hybrid schedule in New York.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical work experience.
• 5+ years of experience in philanthropy, grantmaking, or a mission-driven nonprofit.
• Proficiency with standard grants management and budgeting systems.
• Excellent communication, writing and proofreading skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop a strong understanding of program goals and theories of change.
• Monitor grantees’ activities and report through written reports and meetings.
• Conduct due diligence, monitor performance, ensure legal compliance and risk mitigation.
• Draft grant alignment write-ups in consultation with Directors or Program Officers.
• Maintain grantee records and virtual grant files; support communications with grantees and external stakeholders.
• Develop outreach related to disseminating grantee outputs and reports.
• Represent the Foundation in meetings, briefings, and consultations.
