Job summary

Easterseals Redwood is seeking a Grants Manager to lead the organization’s institutional funding strategy across foundation, corporate, and government sources. You will manage the full grant lifecycle, from prospect research to reporting, collaborating with program, finance, and compliance teams to turn priorities into compelling funding requests.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required with at least three years of successful grant writing and grant management experience.
  • Experience with philanthropic and government funders.
  • Strong persuasive and technical writing, editing, research, and storytelling skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of foundation and government funding opportunities and develop an annual grants strategy for each.
  • Translate program, financial, and outcome information into narratives tailored to funders.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to create work plans and timelines for grant submissions and coordinate input.
  • Manage the reporting calendar and prepare timely, accurate financial and programmatic reports.
  • Serve as a key contact for foundation and government funders.
  • Coordinate with marketing to communicate grant awards and program impact while complying with guidelines.
  • Maintain records in Raiser's Edge NXT and Instrumentl for efficiency.
  • Supervise and support the Grants Specialist with coaching and development.
  • Contribute to fundraising goals, campaign planning, and long-term sustainability.

Position Summary:

The Grants Manager leads Easterseals Redwood’s institutional funding strategy across foundation, corporate, and government sources and serves as a leader on the Advancement & Marketing team. This role manages the full grant lifecycle, including prospect research, proposal development, award administration, reporting, compliance, renewals, and funder stewardship. The Grants Manager works closely with program, finance, quality, systems analytics, compliance, marketing, and advancement colleagues to turn organizational priorities and measurable impact into clear, accurate funding requests and reports.

The ideal candidate has experience with philanthropic and government grants, strong writing and project management skills, and the judgment to manage funder relationships, deadlines, and compliance requirements along with a commitment to Easterseals Redwood’s mission, values, standards, and respect for the dignity and potential of every person.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Manage a portfolio of foundation and government funding opportunities and develop an annual grants strategy for each.
  • Translate program, financial, and outcome information into accurate and persuasive narratives tailored to each funder.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to create work plans and timelines for grant submissions and coordinate agency-wide input.
  • Manage the reporting calendar and prepare timely, accurate financial and programmatic reports.
  • Serve as a key contact for foundation and government funders.
  • Coordinate with marketing to communicate grant awards and program impact to ensure recognition, publicity, and messaging comply with funder guidelines and organizational standards.
  • Maintain accurate records in Raiser’s Edge NXT and Instrumentl, and utilize technology to maximize opportunity and efficiency.
  • Supervise and support the Grants Specialist through goal-setting, workload management, coaching, quality review, and professional development.
  • Contribute to annual fundraising goals, campaign planning, and strategic initiatives to advance Easterseals Redwood’s mission and long-term sustainability.
Education/Qualifications:
  • Belief in the mission and values of Easterseals Redwood.
  • Bachelor’s degree and at least three years of successful grant writing and grant management experience, including both philanthropic and government grants.
  • Experience building and stewarding relationships with foundation, corporate, and/or government funders.
  • Strong persuasive and technical writing, editing, research, and storytelling skills, with the ability to tailor information for varied audiences.
  • Working knowledge of nonprofit budgeting, grant budgets, financial reporting, allowable costs, and collaboration with finance staff.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, project management skills, creativity, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to interpret funder guidelines, contracts, regulations, program data, and financial information and communicate requirements clearly across departments.
  • Knowledge of outcome measurement, evaluation planning, data visualization, and impact reporting.
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge NXT, Instrumentl, or comparable systems.
