Role Description

The Grants Management Specialist is a part-time, on-site role based in Champaign, IL. This position is responsible for overseeing the lifecycle of federal, state, and local grants, including application preparation, submission, compliance monitoring, and reporting. Day-to-day tasks include tracking grant budgets, reconciling expenditures, maintaining accurate documentation, and ensuring adherence to funding requirements and Township policies.


The Specialist collaborates with program staff and finance personnel to develop funding proposals, analyze grant performance, and identify opportunities for new or continued funding. The role also involves preparing clear written reports, responding to auditor and funder inquiries, and supporting continuous improvement in grants administration processes.


Qualifications


  • Demonstrated experience in Federal Grants Management and Grant Administration, including compliance, reporting, and documentation.

  • Strong Analytical Skills with the ability to interpret grant guidelines, assess data, and support decision-making.

  • Knowledge of Finance and Budgeting principles related to grant-funded programs, including tracking expenditures and forecasting.

  • Proficiency with office productivity software and grants management or financial systems.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external partners, while managing multiple deadlines.

  • Prior experience in public sector, nonprofit, or community-focused organizations is beneficial.

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in public administration, finance, accounting, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
