Job summary

Hero's Bridge, a nonprofit serving elderly veterans in Virginia, is seeking a Foundations & Grants Coordinator to build a strong pipeline of institutional funding. You will prospect, write proposals, manage reporting, and steward foundation and government partners to support expansion goals.

This 24-hour-per-week hybrid role reports to the Director of Development and emphasizes collaboration with program and finance staff to align funding with mission-driven initiatives and budgets.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years grant writing or institutional fundraising experience.
• Strong persuasive and technical writing skills.
• Highly organized and deadline-driven.
• Experience with nonprofit budgeting preferred.
• Ability to work with people from various backgrounds, ages, temperaments and varying levels of interpersonal difficulties
• Must be able to pass a background check.
• Valid Virginia driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Excellent written and oral communications skills.
• Experience working with veterans, older adults or mission-driven organizations is a plus.
• Demonstrated proficiency in MS Word and Excel as well as basic internet and social media use.

Responsibilities

• Research local, regional, and national funding opportunities.
• Maintain institutional funding calendar.
• Identify alignment with program and capital initiatives.
• Draft grant proposals and letters of inquiry.
• Collaborate with program and finance staff for data and budgets.
• Ensure timely submissions and compliance with grant requirements.
• Track reporting deadlines and deliverables.
• Prepare interim and final grant reports.
