Job summary

Swords to Plowshares is seeking a Grant Specialist to lead research, pipeline management, and the systems that power our foundation, government, and corporate fundraising program.

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Resource Development, this role is split between proactively researching and managing a pipeline of new funding opportunities, and taking ownership of a portfolio of grants from proposal through reporting.

Qualifications

• Prior grant writing, prospect research, or nonprofit fund development experience is required.
• Strong research skills to identify and prioritize funding opportunities.
• Excellent writing and verbal communication; storytelling with data.
• Detail-oriented with ability to manage a pipeline and deadlines.
• Experience with donor databases (Salesforce preferred) and tools like Candid/Instrumental.
• Comfort building systems and coordinating with senior leadership.

Responsibilities

• Research and track foundation, government, and corporate funding opportunities using research tools and networks.
• Build and maintain a pipeline of funding prospects aligned to organizational needs.
• Prepare overviews of funder opportunities with program alignment and contact details.
• Draft grant proposals and reports, coordinating with Executive staff and program leads.
• Maintain funder information in Salesforce and manage stewardship calendars.
• Support program staff with narrative development for proposals.
