Job summary

The Bremerton School District seeks a Fiscal Specialist to handle accounting and bookkeeping across capital projects, grants, and payroll support, ensuring accurate records and compliant reporting. You will prepare financial reports, manage grant data, and issue journal entries while coordinating with the Kitsap County Treasurer and ensuring timely information for board meetings.

Strong math, computer skills, and confidentiality are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; accounting training preferred
• Two years of recent general accounting experience; school district experience preferred
• Proficient math, computer skills, and ability to maintain confidentiality

Responsibilities

• Gather enrollment data monthly from schools and input into district reports
• Prepare, analyze, and interpret financial reports
• Compile data for semi-annual enrollment ethnic reports
• Create monthly expenditure reports for grants and transmit data to OSPI
• Make journal entries and adjustments for grants and expenditures with audit compliance
• Process accounts receivable and ensure proper coding and signature authorization
• Maintain records for accounts receivable and ensure compliance with retention requirements
• Prepare monthly journal vouchers and apportionment entries
• Coordinate with Kitsap County Treasurer on investments and cash transactions
• Reconcile bank statements and provide fiscal reports for board meetings
• Provide strong customer service to district staff and community
• Perform other related duties as assigned
