Job summary

Missouri Department of Natural Resources is seeking an experienced accounting professional to join the Division of Administrative Support in Jefferson City. You will support grant, budgeting and financial reporting processes, ensuring GAAP compliance and accuracy while working with state systems and our grants platform.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited college with accounting/finance/public administration specialization and four years of government accounting experience.
• Knowledge of state and federal regulations relevant to fiscal activities.
• Proficiency in Access and Excel for reporting and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Review grant applications and awards for accuracy and completeness and submit to awarding agencies.
• Establish chart of accounts, grant codes and budgets to comply with reporting requirements.
• Assist with preparation/review of Federal Financial Reports and grant awards.
• Analyze monthly/quarterly data, identify issues and suggest GAAP-compliant journal entries.
• Perform grant/fund analysis and solvency assessments with recommendations.
• Prepare data for federal funding draws and the state Annual Comprehensive Financial Report.
• Reconcile revenue and expenditures for grant closeouts.
• Verify payroll adjustments and process with OA Accounting.
• Run or review Access queries for reports and SAM II documents.
• Monitor expenditures/revenues for compliance with statutes and policies.
• Other duties as assigned.
