Job summary

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is seeking an Accountant for the Office of Fiscal Management in Springfield. The role analyzes semi-monthly activity reports for accuracy and allocability, codes to federal/grant programs, and reconciles with the Comptroller and budget office.

You will prepare vendor payments and maintain salary source data for projections. Ideal candidates have a four-year college background in accounting or related fields, with knowledge of accounting and auditing

Qualifications

• Requires four years of college with courses in business administration and accounting or four years of technical accounting experience.
• Preferred knowledge of accounting and auditing theory, laws and regulations.
• One year of technical accounting experience applying accounting theory to routine problems.
• One year of professional accounting or budgetary planning experience.

Responsibilities

• Under ORC supervision, perform professional accounting work.
• Conduct personal services budgetary planning and control.
• Examine payroll documents for accuracy.
• Handle monthly billings from automotive fuel and repair vendors.
• Prepare and update monthly budget projection documents.
• Maintain complex capital and operating accounts for the Office of Resource Conservation.
• Serve as designated lead worker.
